Children’s library

Our children’s library is a bright and welcoming space for children of all ages.

We have a cosy sofa area where our youngest readers can independently access a range of first books and toys.

Older children can choose from a good selection of new fiction and non fiction books and access two computers for research or homework.

There is also a dedicated Young Adult section.

All children, every day, have access to paper, pencils and crayons. We support and encourage children to be creative in the library and display their work on our Children’s Art Gallery, if they wish to.

Throughout the year we support and promote national and local reading initiatives, including The Reading Challenge, Booktrust, and Children’s Book Prize.

On Wednesday mornings in the Children’s Library, between 10.00 am to 11.30 am children can take part in Storytime activities including a themed craft activity, supported by the volunteers in the Story Time Team.

Please note: Story time does not run during school  holidays, but please join us for “Make and Create” sessions. These sessions run on Wednesday and Friday morning  during school holidays and are suitable for primary age children.
