Totley Library Cinema Programme

Our cinema programme is taking a break over the summer – watch this space for news of our upcoming films.

Once a month we convert the Children’s Library into a cinema. There are Thursday Matinees free for over 65s, and Friday evening film for adults. Further details are available in the Library or online at www.totleycric.org.uk

We aim to show two films a month — one movie on a Friday evening and one matinee on a Thursday afternoon. The Thursday show is free (no raffle ticket required) for the over 65s, but all ages are welcome. It is advisable to pre-book if you want to attend a film. This can be done in person at the library or by phoning the library when we are open. You can pay when you book or on the day.

Our 2026 cinema programme at Totley Library is now available for booking in person or by calling 0114 236 3971. Refreshments will be served at all these films. Raffle tickets: £3 per person, Thursday matinee films are free of charge for over-65s.

Friday, 23rd October, 7:00 pm – Edie (12)

Edie (2017), after the death of her controlling husband, 83-year-old Edie decides that it is not too late to reclaim her independence and fulfil a dream she abandoned decades earlier: climbing Mount Suilven in the Scottish Highlands. Defying her daughter’s plans to move her into a care home, she leaves for Scotland and hires a young local, Jonny, to help her prepare for the demanding climb. As they navigate the physical challenge and their very different generations, an unexpected friendship develops, helping Edie confront her regrets and discover a renewed sense of freedom, purpose and possibility..

Thursday, 29th October, 3:00 pm – Four Letters of Love (12)

Four Letters of Love (2024), set against the rugged beauty of Ireland, Four Letters of Love follows Nicholas and Isabel, two young people whose lives unfold separately but seem destined to meet. Nicholas grows up in Dublin after his father abandons his career to pursue painting, while Isabel is raised on a remote island in a family steeped in music, poetry and faith. After loss and upheaval send them down very different paths, a series of coincidences, missed opportunities and unexpected connections gradually draw them towards one another. Ultimately, it is a story about love, fate, faith and the mysterious ways in which lives can become intertwined.

Please bring your library card with you to the film or complete a form to join Sheffield City Libraries when you arrive.
